Suspect makes first court appearance.

A day-long manhunt ended after a Lufkin man accused of a double-murder turned himself in to the Angelina County sheriff Monday night.

Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches tells KETK, Kevin Jabbar McKelvey, 39, of Lufkin, was on the run after reportedly shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend and her mother late Sunday night.

McKelvey also made his first court appearance on Tuesday after being booked into the Angelina County Jail early this morning.

It happened on the 100 block of Charlton in Lufkin just before midnight.

McKelvey's ex-girlfriend, Chashuamka Hoyle, and her mother, Teresa Hoyle, 39, arrived at the house in a car driven by another man. Two children were also passengers in the vehicle.

When his ex-girlfriend entered the house, McKelvey reportedly shot her in the head with a rifle.

After Chaschuamka Hoyle was shot, her mother attempted to get away in the vehicle. She got into the passenger seat, but McKelvey reportedly shot her in the head through the window as she was leaving.

The driver of the car left the scene and immediately drove to a local hospital.

Both mother and daughter died of their injuries.

Bond for McKelvey has not been set.
