The Douglass Indians have come home with the state championship trophy.

"It was pretty special," said Douglass third baseman Kolten Rhoudes. "We've been working on this for four years and it's what every baseball player dreams of."

Douglass played 34 games this season and the Indians won 33 of them.

"I'm going to remember everybody individually, everybody's personalities," said Douglass catcher Brandon Stanfield. "It just went together well."

The Indians finished the season by throwing shutouts in their final six playoff games.

"I'll remember how dominant we finished, throwing six straight shutouts, outscoring the opponents 46 to zero," said Douglass pitcher Matthew Wallace.

"These kids know each other, they've grown up with each other," said Douglass coach Eugene Lafitte. "That's part of the bond that has helped us, not only in baseball, but our other team sports."
