Smith County, Texas (KETK) — One person was injured and cited after an early morning wreck south of Tyler.
Just before 6:45 a.m., an 18-wheeler and passenger vehicle collided at Highway 69 and County Road 152 near Bullard.
According to a State Trooper on scene, the driver of a passenger car fell asleep at the wheel and while the 18-wheeler was driving northbound on Highway 69, attempting to make a U-Turn, the car struck the semi.
The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injures, but will be cited for causing the wreck.
Troopers tell KETK the northbound lanes are now open, but upon arrival of maintenance crews, they will be closed again until around 11:00 a.m.
