The Department of Public Safety has raided a suspected marijuana field Friday morning and retrieved apporxiamately 700 pot plants near Tyler.

Officials set up at an area at Farm to Market Road 216 and County Road 247 located off of U.S. Highway 69 north of West Northwest Loop 323. The perimieter was secured by DPS with armored cars and helicopters around 6:00 a.m., Friday morning. Around 7:15 a.m., additional units were called in to seize the marijuana with all-terrain vehicles.

Agents received an anonymous tip describing a possible grow site earlier this week. ivestigators utilized DPS aircraft to pinpoint the exact location of the outdoor grow, and then conducted a joint eradication operation with the Smith County Sheriff's Office, Tyler Police Department, US Attorney's Eastern District, ICE/HIS, Smith County District Attorney's Office and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

No arrests have been made at this time; however, the investigation is ongoing.

What a waste. I have a meth dealer three-doors down from me which I reported to the Sheriff Dept. two months ago and they are still active. They were quiet for about two weeks because they had no electricity due to the house behind them finding the extension cord that they were using to steal electricity. Now, they are back active with multiple traffic, some of the same vehicles several times a day. Raid a meth lab, hell no, raid a mary jane farm, hell yes! Priorities are????

What a waste of taxpayer money. Let's see it took 6 organizations, using helicopters, armored vehicles, ATV's, and no telling how many just regular old squad cars and heavily armed officers to cut down some plants? Plants that you can legally grow, sell, purchase, smoke, make hash, or hash oil, or cannabutter and bake little cookies and whatever else you wanna do with it to get stoned just a mere 12hr drive from here. I bet these idiots are actually proud of themselves too. Grow up you morons.

I TRULY HOPE PEOPLE WILL GIVE ALL OUR LAW OFFICERS ALL THE HELP THEY CAN/WE HAVE A LOT OF GOOD MEN AND WOMEN SERVING IN OUR COUNTY AND I AM ONE TO SAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR THE WORK YOU ALL DO /LOVE EDNA BOURGEOIS REED

Wow, we really saved some lives there. Meanwhile, tons of dangerous drugs were coming into town and being sold all over.

Why dog we have armored vehicles for a pot drug bust, but not on the border?? I will never understand why they can't investigate more before they rush in and cut down everything also running off the growers!
More on the border plaNes, helicopters, armored vehicles and manpower could be on the border, they weren't needed for the farm that had over 100k plants a few weeks ago. Just something to think about.

What a waste of tax payer dollars....This is just the Prohibitionist's in their death throws....I mean, come on, THERE ARE BUDGETS ON THE LINE!!!!!!!

How else can they legitimize using a vehicle that gets, at best 2 miles per gallon, to go pull weeds in a vacant lot.....

WHY would MEX Cartels go to the trouble of growing 70 pot plants here in Texas...Tyler Texas...near the loop...........WHEN EVERYONE KNOWS THE CARTELS OWN MEXICO. Risk vs Reward, basic economics....
