Henderson, TX (KETK) — Drew Coleman burst onto the East Texas scene as a super sophomore for Henderson 15 years ago.
He would go on to be the district MVP twice.
Coleman went from the Lions to the Cardinals, from Henderson to Athens.
He was a standout receiver for Trinity Valley.
He was the Offensive Most Valuable Player in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference 11 years ago.
The East Texan then went to TCU.
His interception helped the Horned Frogs upset Oklahoma in the season opener seven years ago.
Coleman made the All-Conference Team and he was drafted in the sixth round by the Jets.
He played in New York for 5 seasons and now his playing days might be done.
But he is not done with football.
He returned to Henderson Thursday to help with a youth football camp.
He told KETK he wants to help with the kids' academic progress.
"It's academics," Coleman said. "None of this matters if you don't have the grades, if you don't have the knowledge in the classroom, it's all for nothing."
