Longview, TX — The City of Longview Partners in Prevention’s Mentoring Advisory Council and Friends of Partners in Prevention are sponsoring the Second Annual Drive to Inspire! Golf Challenge benefitting the Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program. Shotgun start will be on September 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Wood Hollow Golf Course, 5121 McCann Road in Longview. Registration deadline for the four-person scramble is September 7. The cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. Sponsorship opportunities are available at $100, $350, and $500 levels.
Partners in Prevention Manager, Holly Fuller states, “The second annual Drive to Inspire Golf Challenge is coming to fruition thanks to of the hard work of the Mentoring Advisory Council. All proceeds from the golf challenge will benefit the Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program, which has mentors placed in six school districts. Last year we had a lot of fun and helped provide more than 150 mentors to children in need of a caring, adult role model. We anticipate doing the same this year. It is a wonderful sight to see the smile on a child’s face when they find out they are getting a mentor.”
The Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program provides students in Kindergarten – 12th grade with an adult mentor. Mentors meet with their mentees on a weekly basis to provide support and encouragement through fun and structured activities. Mentors attend at two and half hour training, a criminal history background check, and personal reference checks before being matched with their mentee. The next Mentoring Training is scheduled for September 6 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. A light meal is provided.
