Tyler, TX (KETK) — It's all about supply and demand, and you could find yourself paying almost twice as much as you usually would for a head of cattle.
It's going to be difficult for Texas ranchers to rebuild their herds organically, since many had to thin out, or completely sell off last year's cattle because they simply could not support their numbers during the drought.
And this will also affect non-ranchers as well.
Look for beef products at the grocery store to be more expensive as well, because even though cattleman want to get their cows back on the ranch, the beef industry is still trying to catch up from the drought
Now more ranchers are having to buy more cows through auctions and sell barns.
And with more competing, that just means more to drive up the costs.
