DWIs down for New Year's Eve

TYLER — What's hard to believe for some - is true this year - fewer DWI arrests on New Year's Eve; that's according to Tyler Police reports.
A new "No Refusal" policy gaining popularity around the state may be one factor and another the cost of the fines.
"No Refusal" means if you don't take a breath test; you'll get a blood test before you get booked.
That, along with the thousands of dollars in fines could've kept drunken drivers off the road.
"We don't want to leave anyone without a house or anything. We don't like to take car titles out like other people do," says Maria Avelar of Lonestar Bail Bonds.
She says New Year's Eve was busy for her and warns drivers the fines are too expensive for most.
