An East Texas actress just landed a role of a lifetime in Europe, performing as the iconic Tina Turner in the show "Queen of Rock." Her family said Gina's been singing all her life and they along with Kilgore residents are so proud of her accomplishments.

"She's always wanted to go places. She was a little woman with big dreams," said her mother Mary Dunn-Patillo.

Mary always knew her daughter would make it to the top.

"She always loved to sing behind the house, in the house, on the porch, everywhere and in church."

And sing more than she talked.

"The teachers would tell me she would not go out for recess with the children she would always be in the principal's office or the teachers room singing.''

Mary said Gina was always on the road performing even as a little girl.

"She always liked to sing and act, but she always had big dreams of doing something and going someplace, always."

She got her first big break singing with a gospel choir in California touring around the U.S. and Europe. That's when they told her she was good enough to break off and tour solo.

'It was her dream. She stuck with it, she endured," said her brother Terry Dunn.

She moved to Munich, Germany in 1997 and landed roles everywhere.

"You leave your comfort zone and you follow the business. She paid her dues and is well-known overseas and she really persevered," said Terry.

And now, she landed the role of a lifetime, starring as Tina Turner this Fall and Spring

"She followed her dream regardless of disappointments and setbacks," said Terry.

Gina's other brother Victor said Gina gives credit to her old Kilgore high school choir teacher, Marilyn Marshall, for encouraging her to make singing her career.

And Gina said she thanks East Texans for their continued support.
