We have done lots of stories on the subject of ethanol in gasoline.
And more importantly, the problems it can cause.
10% of each gallon right now is ethanol.
But is a more dangerous blend on the way?
Slowly but surely, more ethanol is finding its way into our gasoline, for a few reasons.
It does burn cleaner. It cuts down on the actual gasoline needed per gallon. And maybe most importantly, corn farmers have a lot of political clout.

Ethanol is essentially alcohol, and in older engines, anything over 10% can be deadly.
That's why the new mandate to slowly increase the amount of ethanol in gas worries many, including the American Automobile Association.

The big worry is that there are so few cars that can handle it. Any GM vehicle since 2012, any Porsche since 2001 and all 2013 Fords.

But the manufacturers fear, that with gas prices going up, many will use the cheaper E15 blend in older cars, and the results could be disastrous.

In fact, BMW, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota and VW are on record saying they won't warranty any damage from E15. Others like Mercedes, Ford, Honda, Kia, Hyundai and Volvo say it may void their warranties entirely.

The EPA though, has certified it as safe for anything newer than 2001.

A spokesman says though, there isn’t any in Texas…yet.
And unless the sales job is very good, there might not be. That’s because, the investment in new tanks and pumps for the retailer is huge.
The ethanol spokesman says that the impact on food supplies from the corn used for ethanol is minimal.
He says those worries were ginned up by the petroleum industry.

EPA = Ethanol Producers Association

Roger,you as well as I know it is going to eat up rings and cylinder wall and weaken valve guide seals.You can put a glass of this 10% on a shelve right now and in just days it will separate and you can see the Ethanol crossive separate from the real petroleum. You may want to show that on a future news cast.I have a 68 ss 396 and I will never run E15 But sadly many will.
