Earl Campbell honored at John Tyler

The Tyler Rose brought some of the Hall of Fame to the Rose City.
Earl Campbell returned to John Tyler Wednesday to be honored as a Hometown Hall of Famer.
Campbell led John Tyler to the 1973 state championship.
He talked with KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner.
Campbell talked about almost quitting football in high school.
"Our principal was Mister Anderson," Campbell said. "I wanted to quit the football team. He told me, Earl, if you're going to John Tyler High School, you're going to have to play football."
Campbell went from John Tyler to Texas where he won the Heisman Trophy.
From Texas, he was the #1 pick of the NFL Draft with the Houston Oilers.
From the Oilers, Campbell went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
