A drunk driver leads Tyler Police on an early morning chase.

It started around three Thursday morning.

Someone made a welfare concern call to police saying Royce Giddings was driving a 96 Chevy pick-up with flat tires going close to 65 miles an hour. The caller also said the man was possibly intoxicated.

Police caught up to Giddings along Old Jacksonville Highway, but were unable to get him to stop.

Tyler Police Sergeant Blake Lockhart says Giddings lost control a few times and finally crashed through a resident's backyard fence almost hitting a house.

Giddings did resist arrest and was pepper-sprayed. He has been charged with a DWI, felony evading and resisting arrest.
