East Texan killed by lightening strike

Nacogdoches, TX — Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges said a local man was killed this morning by an apparent lightning strike. The 60-year-old man was standing in his backyard when it happened.
When deputies arrived on the scene at 11:30 a.m., the man was found in his lying on the ground near a tree in the backyard. A witness told law enforcement they heard a loud boom followed by a shaking of their house. A few minutes later, the victim was found outside.
Deputies discovered the tree had been clearly struck by lightning and a burn mark on the man's stomach.
