East Texans compete in X Factor "Audition Pass Competition"

This Saturday was a big day for singers across East Texas. One-hundred contestants anxiously waited in lined for their chance to compete in Fox 51 and The Breeze radio station's "Audition Pass Contest", hosted by Fox 51's Rachel Rollar and Ben Hill.

Vice President of Waller Broadcasting promotions, Jimmy Olson tells KETK, "The X Factor is phenomenal, it's a great show. We all know that and for the first time we did the auditions where Fox 51 is out here live filming them."

On May 14th one lucky winner will be flown to Denver, Colorado for a guaranteed audition with X Factor producers, with all flight and hotel stays courtesy of The Breeze.

It's safe to say, this competition definitely had a variety of contestants.

X Factor hopeful, Taryn Blackerby has always had singing as her main passion, saying, "Ever since first steps I've been singing for basically all of my life."

While there were other contestants who used this time on the stage as a dedication for those dearest to them. Contestant David Murphey explains, "I used to do karaoke with a bunch of guys when we'd go on our big fishing trips. All of them started dying out on me so this is kind of a tribute."

If you were not able to make the auditions at Bergfeld Park, those hoping to win this audition pass can submit an audition tape online at Fox 51's website from April 1st to 26th. The winner will be announced on Fox 51 today on April 29th.
