East Texans Mirror Tea Party in D.C.
September 12, 2009 - 3:25pm
CANTON - Hundreds of people mirrored the Washington D.C. tea party today in Canton at the Van Zandt County Courthouse.
It's all part of what's being called the 9-12 movement by many nation-wide.
As the big tea party takes place in D.C., community members who are against the President's healthcare plan are gathering to protest in their own areas.
Entire families in Van Zandt County came out to protest what they call unnecessary spending.
There was a tea party in Longview as well today.
Several East Texans also made the trip to Washington D.C. along with the Tea Party Express.

This tea 'party' stuff is so pointless.
"We're mad with stuff that has been going on for the last 200 years - so let's march with signs now."
Yeah, great idea.

2 months agoTo hear the white house dismiss the people who took time out of their lives, most of them struggling to make a living, to go to WDC to voice our concern over the way our nation is going - and then for the white house to just dismiss the people by saying "They are not representative of mainstream America," is a slap in the face of the American people. We care about our country and are deeply concerned as we see our freedoms being taken away at a fast pace. We do not appreciate being dismissed and we do not appreciate their unwillingness to work across party lines to do what is truly best for our country. We do NOT want socialism! We do NOT want obama's health care. We do NOT want the gov't bankrupting our country! Be forewarned; we ARE mainstream America and you will hear us. It may be 2010 or 2012, but you WILL hear us!

2 months agoCitizens across the nation are fed up with Washington Bureaucrats spending tax money as if there were an endless supply. Conservatives, Independents, Republicans, and many Democrats are agreed on this point: GOVERNMENT SPENDING IS OUT OF CONTROL.
People attending the Tea Party Rallies are not troublemakers. Many of them have never attended a political rally or carried a sign expressing their political views until now.
But people are fed-up with bullies in Washington D.C. who do not seem to care what United States citizens think. The Bureaucrats seem to have forgotten the American Revolution changed the way America is "ruled." We are now a Representative Republic. If self-centered politicians do not listen to the citizens at the town hall meetings and Tea Party Rallies, perhaps they will listen on election day.

3 months agoI have been fed up since the day this President and his cronies have taken over. and the speaker of the house is a nut with no IDEA of the real working force. They all have been on a ride at our expence. By the way I have my Birth certificate. Where is the Presidents. And if I applied for a grant I would apply as a United States Citizen.
