East Texans React To Illinois Pastor Shot Dead

MARYVILLE, IL - A pastor is dead and his alleged shooter remains in a hospital.

It happened Sunday morning in the pulpit of First Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois.

Police say, a 27 -year old man walked right in front of the preacher while he was in the pulpit.

The alleged shooter pulled a gun and started shot pastor fred winters in the chest.

Police say, the gun jammed and the attacker pulled out a knife and tried to cut his own throat.

That's when two churchgoers wrestled him to the ground.

People all across the U.S. are asking, "what could have been done to prevent this shooting?"

And, what kind of security needs to be in houses of worship?

We need to pray for our pastors all over the world because they are being harmed and their families also from here in Illinois all the way to India. The Body of Christ is being attacked because of our faith and faithfulness to the Lord. We need to seek HIM always and be ready.
