Where to celebrate Independence Day in 2013!

Looking for a place to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday?

KETK has received notice of the following events taking place across East Texas.

Angelina County

Lufkin:
Mike Love Fireworks Extravaganza at Ellen Trout Zoo
Event starts at 1:00pm
Featuring:

  • 25 Minute Fireworks show (at dark)

Cherokee County

Jacksonville:
Fireworks display @ Lake Jacksonville

Rusk:
Parade on the Square @ 9:00am 

  • Veterans are welcome to participate
  • Kids can decorate bicycles and ride in the parade
  • Motorcycle riders are welcome

Gregg County

Kilgore:
140th Birthday Party (July 5th) @ 7:30pm on the Richest Acre

Longview:
Fireworks and Freedom Celebration
Maude Cobb Convention Center & Activity Complex @ 2:00pm
Featuring:

  • Rock of Ages concert
  • Hot Dog eating contest
  • Activities/Entertainment
  • Fireworks Show

Henderson County

Athens:
Fireworks at the Fishery
TFFC will be open for regular paid visitation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission for the fireworks show will start at 4 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to fish in the stocked casting pond while waiting for the fireworks, which will begin at dark. No license is required to fish, and bait and tackle are furnished for free. Fishing ends at 8:30 p.m., and the fireworks will begin approximately one-half hour later.


Nacogdoches County

Nacogdoches:
Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Freedom Fest
Presented by: Metro PCS
Downtown @ Festival Park - 5:00 pm
Featuring:

  • Live Music (Two ETX bands: Culverhouse and Westbound 21)
  • Hot dog eating contest @ 6:30 (Youth, Teen, and Adult)
  • Star-spangled pitch off washer tournament (teams of two, staring @ 6:00pm)
  • Children's activities (water slides, moonwalks, potato sack races, bean bag tosses)
  • "Largest Fireworks Show in East Texas" begins 30 minutes after dark

Rusk County

Henderson:
City of Henderson Fire Works Display @ Lake Forest Park (1005 Hwy. 64 W)
July 4th @ 9:30pm

Overton:
Overton Fireworks Show @ Overton Lake
Show begins around 9:00pm, but the coordinators suggest getting there early


Smith County

Tyler:
Tyler Junior Chamber of Commerce will hold a church service and possibly a fireworks show

Pleasant Hill Baptist Chuch will host it's annual fireworks show on July 4th
Beginning at 6:30pm, hot dogs, water, chips, and watermelon will be provided FREE to the community. This year wil feature a military tribute, live music, trampoline, and giveaways.
Fireworks will begin at dusk

Annual Fourth of July Concert @ First Presbyterian Church (230 West Rusk Street)
The event is open to the public at no charge.
Doors open at 3:30 pm
Music begins at 4 pm

Knollwood July 4th Parade @ 9:00 am (14964 Northwood)
Flint Gresham Volunteer Fire Department will lead the parade

Tyler Jaycees Fireworks Show @ Lindsey Park
July 4th - Gates open at 4:00pm
Admission is $10/car
The show will start after dark

Community Fireworks Show @ Winona High School

  • Softball and baseball games
  • Cookout
  • Waterslides
  • Fireworks Show
     

Upshur County

Gilmer:
Fireworks Show @ Buckeye's High School Stadium (July 3rd)

Gladewater:
Fireworks Show and Boat Parade (July 6th)
Event starts at 8:00pm at Lake Gladewater


Wood County

Mineola:
Fireworks Show at the Mineola Civic Center
Music and Events start @ 6:00 pm

Hawkins:
Annual Lake Hawkins Fireworks Display (presented by Hawkins Volunteer Fire Department)
@ Lake Hawkins RV Park (CR 3440 - 1 mile north of Hwy. 80)
Display begins at dusk
