TYLER-Experts say unemployment funds may run out by the end of this year in Texas. So the Workforce Solutions Center in East Texas is trying a new approach. It called the East Texas Ready-To-Work Program and the state has chosen the Workforce Center to pilot the project.
This program is designed for individuals who have been laid off for less than ten weeks and have been drawing unemployment. Program directors say it's a two-fold incentive. On one hand, the program puts these people back into a paying job. On the other hand, employers who pay their employees more than $8 an hour can receive well trained employees and be reimbursed $640 for every person they hire.
