East Texas Carmike theaters inspected in response to nationwide bomb threat

TYLER, TX (KETK) - —
Update: The Tyler Fire Department, along with the Tyler Police Department, responded to a bomb threat at the Carmike Cinema in Tyler this morning shortly after 9:00 a.m. Authorities remained on scene until approximately 1:00 p.m.
Local Carmike management notified authorities of the non-specific bomb threat, which was received at the Carmike headquarters in Columbus, Georgia. While the Carmike Theater in Tyler was not specifically mentioned in the call, fire officials took precautionary measures and conducted a search of the property. No devices were found and the theater is expected to be open today. Officials have been in contact with the local FBI, and the incident remains under investigation. Updates will be available as new information is obtained.
1:00 PM UPDATE (KETK) :
According to Tyler Police, a Carmike Theater in Columbus, GA received a bomb threat call early Friday morning.
The call did not specify any particular Carmike theater as a target, so theaters across the country were investigated as a precaution.
Authorities have the phone number where the threat originated, and are tracking down the person who made the call.
KETK will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.

The Carmike Theater chain has received threats at many of it's theaters in the US including Georgia, Kentucky and North Carolina.
Police investigated at many East Texas theaters in response to the threat.
