East Texas Fireworks Events Planned

Several approved fireworks displays are planned for East Texas communities. Here is a sampling of events scheduled for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
FRIDAY, JULY 1
Tyler - First Baptist Church Tyler-South Campus. Fireworks will be part of the family night celebration from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Food will be available for purchase from Fire Engine 7. A children's event tent will be set up for families. Other activities include bounce houses, face painting, arts and crafts and balloon art. There is no admission cost, but families are asked to bring canned goods for the Tyler Family Assistance Center.
SATURDAY, JULY 2
Whitehouse -- Fireworks will be one of the activities planned during Summerfest starting at 6 p.m. at Whitehouse's City Park.
Gladewater -- annual Fireworks Show at dusk at Gladewater Lake. Come out early to see the Austin Bank “Boat Parade,” which starts at 8 pm.
SUNDAY, JULY 3
Whitehouse -- Bryan Conaway's Fireworks show at Lake Tyler, begins at 9:30 p.m. at the West dam. Families can watch the show from the marina or from their boats in the lake. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
MONDAY, JULY 4
Tyler - 48th annual Tyler Jaycees Fireworks Display, Lindsey Park in Tyler. Gates will open at 4 p.m., and admission is $10 per car. Several vendors will be on hand. No personal fireworks are allowed, but families can bring picnics and snacks. Fireworks will begin at dark
Athens -- Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center and adjacent Lake Athens. Gates open at 4 p.m. Fishing will be allowed in the stocked casting pond until 30 minutes before the fireworks begin, at dark. Families may bring picnics, but pets, alcohol, tobacco, and personal fireworks will not be allowed.
Canton -- Fireworks Spectacular will take place at dark at Canton's First Monday grounds west gate.
Edom -- Celebration at the Community Center Park. Fireworks will be displayed at dark. Donations are accepted for the fireworks.
Henderson -- at dusk over Lake Forest Park.
Jacksonville -- Lake Jacksonville. Annaul Fourth of July Flotilla with decorated boats and watercraft begins at 10 a.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m. by the public concession area on Byrd Road. Families are welcome and admission is free.
Longview -- Celebrate our Freedom will take place at the Longview Texas Fairgrounds in Longview. Fireworks will begin at dark.
Mineola -- A firework display will be at dusk July 4 at the Mineola Civic Center. This will conclude their Wet and Wild Day which begins at noon. Admission is $5.
Lufkin -- The city fireworks display is scheduled for 9 p.m. over Ellen Trout Lake at the zoo. There will be activities at the zoo throughout the day,
Nacogdoches -- Freedom Fest in downtown at dusk.
Overton -- Annual Stars and Stripes Festival and Fireworks. Bicycle Parade is 4 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Family Fun in the Park will offer food and family events. Fireworks Display over Overton Park Lake at first dark.
Gilmer -- The East Texas Yamboree Association will have it annual fireworks show at 9 p.m. at the Gilmer High School grounds on the corner of Bradford and Buffalo streets. There will be a concession stand selling food and drinks. and stadium seating provided.
