A Nacogdoches man was jailed early Tuesday morning after falsely reporting a robbery at gunpoint to get a ride.

Larry Joe Smith Jr., 32, went to his neighbor's home on CR 555 in Nacogdoches County about midnight Monday, telling the neighbor that he needed a ride because someone had entered his home and was attempting to rob him at gunpoint.

The neighbor called 911, and when deputies arrived Smith confessed he was not being robbed. He told deputies he was out of gas and just wanted a ride.

Smith was arrested and charged with false report of an emergency.
