The East Texas Pump Jacks are back for their eighth season in Kilgore.

The summer wood bat league will bring college players to Driller Park starting next Tuesday.

"To bring this talent to Kilgore is a benefit for us," said Melanie Newman of the Pump Jacks. "You're going to see fantastic performances night and day."

This season the Pump Jacks will have a former big league pitcher as their manager.

John Foster played for the Braves and Brewers.

"We have a terrific team coming in," Newman said. "John Foster has had his eyes on these guys."

"He's seen them in-person," Newman added. "Everybody has been working night and day to make this come true."

The home opener will be Tuesday night, June 3, at Driller Park in Kilgore.

"We're just ready to get out there and get rolling," Newman said.
