East Texas seminary branches out online

Texas Baptist Institute has been educating future pastors in Henderson since 1948, but two years ago, it started to branch out, online.

Since the school implemented this long distance education, they have seen a slow steady growth in overall enrollment.

The school was founded on training full time ministers, but some are now taking online courses just to get more biblical knowledge.

Students still take their 12 week class segments, and they start and stop when the campus in Henderson stops and starts.

This online approach has led to tangible growth across the state as well.

"As a result of this though we're not only teaching online courses, but we've had some satellite campuses open, one in Texarkana, one in Garland, and one in Round Rock," said TBI business administrator Robert Wallace.

Thirty-two students currently attend the seminary on campus in Henderson.
