HENDERSON, TX --- On Wednesday November 10, 2010 at about 11:03 am the Rusk County Sheriff Office received a call from East Texas Medical Center (Henderson) emergency room requesting an officer to respond to the hospital in regard to a two year old child being deceased as the result of a dog attack. Upon arrival deputies learned that Helen Muckleroy B/F 2-10-75 transported her two year old son Kaden Muckleroy to the hospital from her residence (1950 Rusk County road 421 N. Henderson Texas) for treatment of dog bites from a pit bull dog attack. Further investigation indicates that the dog's owner, Kelvin Muckleroy B/M who is the victim's grandfather had the dog chained to a tree in the yard of the residence where the attack occurred. Muckleroy has consented to the release of the animal as well as about twenty nine additional kennel kept dogs to the Rusk County Sheriff Office. At this time the Sheriff Office is currently conducting an investigation and will release information as is appropriate.

If the campaign to legalize BSL in the state of Texas is successful, you can look forward to virtually any dog over 30 pounds will be subject to breed bans. First it'll be pit bulls, then german shephards, rotties, dobies, boxers, akitas, wolf-hybrids, great danes, mastiffs and on and on! Everytime a dog bite makes the papers, the people who were too busy to supervise their kids, (or their pets) will be clamoring for breed bans. Where and when will it end?

People who value their rights, need to be willing to stand up for them!

It's infair to take away everyones pit bull because other people werent watching theirs close enough, in no offense to what has recently has happened. Everyone is very aware that pit bulls are easily violent and require supervision. Pit bulls have a bad name due to irresponsible people who have not trained them. And they do tend to easily turn regardless of the way they were raised which is why they should for sure be kept securely, as most owners know.

You want to kill all pit bulls because one attacked a child? Why do we allow known sex offenders to live next door to a house full of children and and allow a simple note in the yard?
Why not put signs in a yard for pit bull owners? You don't like it? Don't let your child outside without you. There in the same danger anyways.Several questions come to mind. Have you ever owned one? Do you know how loyal they are? Do you know why they are not KNOWN guard dogs? Where are these childrens parents?

As an owner of a pitt bull myself. At first when young Mr. Clinton was killed. I went to the town meeting. But, the more I see on the news lately about BANNING these animals is begining to anger me a great deal. If you are going to BAN one then BAN them all. There are many breeds that kill people each year. And many people that own these animals and don't know a thing about how to care for them. Don't own an animal if you aren't going to learn how to care for them. Wake up PEOPLE

Rusk County needs to start a support group for families that have had their children killed by pitt bulls. This seems more logical than just getting RID OF THE PITT BULLS!!!yea that's right pitt bull lovers!! children should come first!!! and all different types of owners have pitt bulls that attack children so get off the "it's the owner" BS. this is ridiculous!!

I am one of those " pitt bull lovers " and I also own one. It is very ridiculous for many reasons. One: don't have the animal if you are not going to train it. Two: Pitt Bulls are not the only breed of dogs that kill. If you want to bann one, then bann them all. In both cases in Rusk county. WHERE WERE THE CHILDREN'S PARENTS AT? I take procations to protect my Family,Friends, and my dog. If you don't train them in the right way. Then DON'T OWN ONE. Any Dog can kill. Any animal can hurt. WAKE UP.
