East Texas unscathed after Isaac
East Texas — Hurricane Isaac brushed by Texas Thursday, leaving Longview and much of the surrounding area dry.
Although emergency personnel were poised to respond if needed, the storm that drenched Louisiana with up to a foot of rainin its first day on American soil brought 30 mph wind gusts and light rain to East Texas.
“I think for the expectations, from this storm in particular, the best rainfall potential was always over Louisiana,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Hemingway, on Thursday. “Unfortunately there was also a good chance to put a good dent in the drought.”
