Danny Elzner spoke with Michael Martin, Eastfield College baseball coach.

The Eastfield Harvesters won a national championship in 2006. Now, the team from Mesquite is coming to Tyler to try and win another one.

Martin said, "I hope we continue to play like we're playing right now. If we can put these kind of games together, offensively and on the mound, we're going to have a good chance to go in there, make some noise and hopefully win another national championship."

Eastfield won its way to Tyler by beating Tyler Junior College. The Apaches were ranked #2 nationwide when they were eliminated by the Harvesters.

Martin said, "When we face those guys we know it's going to be a challenge every year. There are so many similarities between our two programs. We know what they're about and they know what we're about."

Martin added, "It's about winning games and putting yourself in position to win national championships. We talk about that from day one, about competing for national championships. We feel like we have a program that's capable of doing that year in and year out. They're prepared for it. We're just trying to keep them steady, keep our emotions in check. Compete with intensity, put pressure on people and good things will happen for us."
