Eastman announces Tennessee expansion
Longview, TX (Longview News-Journal) — Eastman Chemical Co. will invest $1.6 billion in an expansion in Tennessee that will create 300 jobs over the next seven to 10 years.
The announcement was made Wednesday in Kingsport, Tenn., by Eastman Chairman and CEO Jim Rogers and Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.
“This represents a landmark capital investment that will modernize and expand our largest manufacturing site and corporate campus here in Kingsport,” Rogers said. Kingsport is headquarters of Eastman, whose Texas Operations employ more than 1,500 people in Longview.
The Tennessee expansion is called Project Inspire. Eastman said the effort would enable the company to invest in new growth opportunities, safety and environmental projects, increased warehouse capacity, and building renovations.
