Economic reasons help spraygrounds replace traditional summer retreats
Henderson — Adults will recall the way the summertime smell of chlorine tickled their noses, how it felt to learn their first strokes in the shallow end and the sounds of feet pitter-pattering across the board of the high dive as they took their first plunge into the deep end of the pool.
However, today’s East Texas children are more likely to remember summers spent dashing through the water at splash pads. The fixtures — sometimes referred to as spraygrounds — are replacing pools in many area cities.
