No word if the Longview plant employees will get pink slips
LONGVIEW - Dana Corp. announced on Thursday they will be closing more production plants and cutting an unexpected 2,000 more jobs next year.
Company officials say because sales and earnings are down this quarter, it's time to make changes. Dana Corp. announced earlier in the year, they are cutting about 3,000 employees.
Officials say, because of the economy, they have to "re-size" their company to meet market demand. Company Spokesperson Chuck Hartledge says there's no way to tell if Dana's Longview plant will be affected.
Hartledge says, "There could be layoffs at any facilities including the local plant there in Longview and in terms of the plant closures what we are going to do there in the next weeks and months is work with partners to evaluate all our options."
Dana Corp. in Longview manufactures truck frames for General Motors in Shreveport.
