Despite Set-Backs.. Tobacco Industry Is Doing Well
July 30, 2009 - 6:39pm
SMITH COUNTY - Despite the economy, new taxes, and smoking bans, the tobacco industry is doing well... if not better.
Folks at Tobacco Junction say, they still get quite a bit of customer traffic.
A cashier we spoke to says, the store offers generic brands.
That means, more folks are coming to their store to get their tobacco products, which are cheaper than in grocery stores and gas stations.
Tobacco Junction is also reporting an increased interest in electronic cigarettes.
It's a battery-operated device that creates smoke by mixing water, flavoring and nicotine.
The product has not been approved by the FDA.
