Does the US government spend too much money on space exploration?

Personally, I think that we should first focus on how we can make this planet better first, before we start exploring others. But that doesn't mean a complete break-down of the NASA program because they can still help in ways of studies in renewable resources.

I really don't know why that the space program has to be all or nothing. Perhaps scale back a little. However, the space program has given us the flat screen TV, cell phone, microwave and other things too numerous to mention here.

I believe a line item veto for the space program might work. Do away with the non-essentials and keep some of the other programs that are beneficial to the world.

No, the government doesn't spend too much money on space exploration and here's why: 1. Techies will tell you"all good things spring from NASA". 2. If we don't colonize space where are we going to put the population overflow that results from lack of birth control?

I do not believe that the government spends too much on the space program but with the wild spending that Pres. Obama is doing I think that NASA, to protect themselves from his frivilous spending, should look into the possibility of incorporating the private sector along with whatever the "government" plans to budget. It seems to me that Obama is doing everything he can to eliminate as much protection of this country from our enemies as he can. This is just one more way he is leaving us open.

I am in favor of cutting way back on money spent for NASA in the area of space exploration. They have plenty of scientists and engineers who are expert in fuel and fuel technology. Turn them loose on creating diesel fuel from our abundant coal. That is a goal worth spending tax payer money

YES. I don't know what Houston will do if money is cut from the Space Program but that is what the government is so good at creating people who are dependent on them. I am not totally against studying space but it should be way down the list. I think we should keep an eye on space mainly to forsee anything that might be heading our way to possibly prevent a catastrophic event but we are not going to be living on another planet or in space that is ridiculous and a waste, especially in these times.
