Hunting Season Off To A Slow Start

November 7, 2008 - 7:22pm

FLINT - The colder temps we saw last weekend put a damper on the first chance hunters had to get that 12-point buck.

Smith County Game Warden Chris Green tells us, deer aren't roaming as far as they normally would in colder temperatures this time of year.

And, vegetation hasn't died off, which means deer don't have to go far to find food or water.

One hunter we spoke with says, mosquitoes are still out, too.

Avid Hunter Bill Simmons says, "They were real bad last weekend. Real bad.. I hunt from low grounds. They were bad."

The hunting season began November first.

For East Texans, it ends January fourth.
