But before they can move forward - Mullins says they want to rent out a big portion of the property to companies.
TYLER - It's been more than a year, since Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. stopped production at its Tyler plant.
Since then, the space has remained empty, but that might not be the case for long.
Tom Mullins, with the Tyler Economic Development Council, said an anonymous real estate investment group out of California is eyeballing the plant.
But before they can move forward - Mullins says they want to rent out a big portion of the property to companies.
"They've done it with a Goodyear facility in Huntsville, Alabama," he said. "They filled it up with about half a dozen companies. That's what they're thinking about doing here."
Mullins says they've agreed on the terms and price.
For now, it's a waiting game.
"They haven't closed on the building but they're very interested," he said.
