Stimulus Bill Expected to Pass Senate

UNDATED—The Senate's version of an economic stimulus bill is expected to clear a key procedural hurdle Moday but not by much.
Over the weekend, moderates stripped the Senate plan of billions in mostly state budget aid and education. The changes tipped three Republicans to say they'll vote for the plan despite broader GOP complaints. If they follow through, the package will pass in the Senate with 61 votes.
