ARP, TEXAS — Polly Price, an elderly woman living in the city of Arp, is very ill and can't take care of herself.
She is also living in what neighbors call, "a converted chicken shack."
Price says the place she calls home is more than 100 years old and she says she has been living in these horrible conditions for 20 years.
Al Herrington and his wife Gerry live down the street from "Ms. Polly." Al Herrington is the president of SonRise Ministries, and he had dedicated the last 32 years to serving other who can't help themselves.
Herrington tells KETK, "I try to make her (Ms. Polly's) life as comfortable as possible."
But it's hard to imagine comfort, when you see where she lives. She lives in an old shack with dirt floors, rotten wood and plastic covering the windows.
Price says, "it's not much but it's all I have."
And she says if it wasn't for Al and Gerry Herrington and SonRise Ministries, she would hardly have any food to eat.
The Herringtons bring her food every week, they also say they have paid thousands of dollars to try and help "Ms. Polly." They have paid for her medical expenses, transportation and food.

The Republican side of me says she should just pull herself up by her boot strap or continue to live the way she is. The Christian Democrat side of me says we ALL should pitch in to assist this elderly lady out of the situation that she is in.
This just breaks my heart to know of anyone living like this. What has the world come to when you can't live comfortable, have food and be able to afford medical care/medicine. I hope and pray that something is done soon for this sweet lady and for the rest of struggling Americans.
What?
