RUSK COUNTY — An elderly East Texas woman, who is in her 80s, remains in the hospital after getting attacked by a pack of dogs.

According to Viki Penny with the Rusk County Sheriff's Department, it happened just before 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at a home off of County Road 1113.

Penny says, 5 dogs attacked the woman as she was getting her newspaper.

A neighbor reportedly saw it happened, helped get the dogs off her and called 911.

The woman is in ICU at a Longview hospital.

Penny tells KETK, at last check, she was not doing well.

All five dogs were captured.

Penny says, their owner is being very cooperative.

The investigation is ongoing.
