Jacksonville, TX (KETK) — A fund assisting wounded warriors and their families with travel expenses to the Warrior and Family Support Center in San Antonio has been established at Austin Bank by the Marine Corps League in Jacksonville.
The "Ellis Warrior Fund" is named for Jacksonville resident Eric Ellis, who was wounded by an I.E.D. while serving in Afghanistan earlier this year. and was sent to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio for medical rehab four months ago, according to Chuck Bones, Commandant of the local league detachment.
The WFSC's Mission, to provide a comfortable, welcoming, and friendly environment for wounded warriors and their families to relax, have fun, participate in activities and find support as they transition to their new norm, he added.
Donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of collections will go to the WFSC.
The local organization also is accepting gift cards, disposable cameras, music CDs, and other items to donate to WFSC.
"Just contact any Marine Corps League Member or look for the big Red Marine Corps League Tahoe and tell them this is for the Ellis Fund, and we will make sure it gets to the WFSC," Bones said.
