Longview, TX — An enhanced fire danger exists today for East Texas and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service said this morning in a statement that conditions are favorable for fires to develop.

Dry conditions mixed with hot temperatures and low relative humidity adds to the possibility of fires starting.

During the night, a cold front with dry air and stronger winds could also spread fires more quickly.

The group urges caution when working outside. Welding and outdoor equipment can cause sparks that might start fires.
