"God has turned me into the Anti-Christ"

April 8, 2009 - 4:47pm

FLORIDA - We have new details on a shooting in Florida, that was all caught on tape.

The woman who shot her son and then turned the gun on herself said, she did it because she didn't want anyone to go to hell.

This is security video from the shooting range Sunday showing the mother and son appearing to have a normal shooting session.

But then, 44-year-old Marie Moore draws her gun and shoots her 20-year-old son before turning the gun on herself.

Moore left notes and audio recordings at her home explaining why she, and her son Mitchell, had to die.

On one of the recordings, she said, "I have to die and go to hell. So, there can be a thousand years of peace on earth. God has turned me into the Anti-Christ."

During most of the recording, Moore speaks to her boyfriend, whom she calls "king."

She refers to herself as "queen."

And, she says, she's sorry she failed to become rich and save the world.

Okay, this is NOT at all about religion or Christianity or Jesus...this is about mental illness. People who are schizophrenic exhibit this kind of behavior all the time. Believe me, Bob, I'm all for any illumination of the "money grabbing fearmongerer evangelical frauds" to whom you refer, but this story has nothing to do with them.

This is your wake up call people! It is way past time for people to wake up and smell the coffee with regard to the complete wack jobs that some well meaning 'Christians' choose to follow.

Jesus espoused love and peace not the hate and violence that we have, unfortunately, seen more and more 'Christians' espouse in the last few years.

Try emulating the EXAMPLE that Jesus set for us instead setting an example influenced by hate filled money grabbing fearmonger evangelical frauds that have infiltrated modern day Christianity! Use your brains, people and use more of the examples Jesus set as a templates for your lives, all our children deserve that far more than the crap we have suffered through in the last two decades.

No, it is not "all" about religion or the right wing nut fringe whack jobs but it is a LOT about them; overwhelmingly about them AND mental illness, too.

I know it when I see it and so do you.

When are we going to put our foot down regarding those who are mentally ill (or physically ill) and using their "Christianity" as a shield?. When will our religious leaders step up to the plate on this and STAY on topic?

My sister, who is suffering terribly while dealing with breast cancer is convinced that God is punishing her yet her 'religious' friends and her clergy are 110% ineffective in helping her deal with her ordeal. "They" are powerless to help and don't have the guts to get behind the mental health professionals who can help.

I'm sorry, but organized religion IS the problem.
