Tyler (KETK) — Eric Polivka is a TJC sophomore pitcher from Georgetown, north of Austin.
He told KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner that the Apaches are back in the Junior College World Series because it was their goal.
Their only goal.
"We said from day one we just want to win a ring," Polivka said. "That's been the goal of every guy out here, just give it everything you've got."
Polivka and the Apaches are in the World Series for the fourth time in the last eight years.
But Tyler Junior College missed out on a chance to play for the national championship last year.
"We had a tough break in the regionals last year," Polivka said. "We had some unfinished business coming into this year."
That season last year kept the Apaches motivated this year.
"Absolutely," Polivka said.
Saturday, Polivka and the Apaches will play in the Junior College World Series at noon at Mike Carter Field in Tyler.
Their goal has been met. They got back to the World Series.
Now it's time for another goal -- to win it.
