TYLER - Bill O'Neal, visits his wife every day at East Texas Medical Center.
His biggest issue is finding a parking place close to the hospital and he said parking on the roadside is not an option.
He said, "Boy, during the week at prime time the public lot over there is completely full and I would not park in the roadway and get my car scratched."
City officials say ETMC has filed for a permit to build a four story parking garage that will sit on almost three acres of land.
The $14.5 million facility will be at the intersection of Osler and Hospital Drive.
Tyler city officials, said they hope this garage will get some of these cars out of the street and into a safe designated parking lot.
Elizabeth Henderson works at ETMC and she is tired of hunting for parking every day.
She said, "Yah, its needed because you can hardly find a parking place, I had to park at the doctors office just to park."
And for those who have a tough time getting around...they say more parking is a necessity.
Sue Mitchell said, "Its extremely hard for my friend to walk all the way from that parking garage to the hospital."
As for Bill O'Neal...he said "Obviously this parking facility is needed."
