A baby has been flown to Dallas after suffering head injuries from falling off a bed Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Smith County deputies along with paramedics and members of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a home in the 16000 block of Farm to Market Road 2767 in reference to an unresponsive 6-month-old infant. The child was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Tyler, and was then flown to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas to receive treatment.

Deputies were told by family members the child fell from a bed and received an injury to the head. The case is currently being investigated by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
