It wasn't your average garage sale today on Richmond Rd. in Tyler, today.

$1 lemonade, hot dogs for sale, cookie decorating for the kids, all to raise money for 59 year old, Davy Hobson's enormous medical expenses. Sharron Hobson, Davy's wife says, "Right now we are approaching the 2 million dollar mark, which is of course our cap for a year, and I foresee it going way over that."

Davy's heart failed suddenly. Sharron explains, "He exercised all his life, so this isn't something anyone could have seen coming."

He's been in a Dallas hospital since February, Sharron says, "Essentially what he has is a mechanical heart, to help him live"

Davy is on the transplant list awaiting a donor. Meanwhile the medical bills just keep climbing. So Davy's friends and co-workers decided to step in and help. Missy Nash, co-worker and friend of Davy, says, "We decided to do a garage sale a community garage sale and it's been overwhelming the generosity of Tyler and surrounding areas."

Nash has know Davy and Sharron for more than a decade. She say's helping Davy is a must, it's about the golden rule: "Do onto others as you would have done on to you" Nash says, "We could be in the same boat, we have to help each other. it takes a village to take care of one another."

Sharron says she is eternally grateful for all of her wonderful friends, and the community, "When you look around and see all of these people donating their time donating their things to try to help us, it's just amazing."
