ETX man falls into river, dies while hunting hogs
Houston County, Texas (KETK) — A Houston County man was found dead Sunday after falling into the Neches River the day before.
According to the Houston County Sheriff's's Office, Jimmy Berry, 45, of eastern Houston County, disappeared while hunting hogs. A witness stated he fell into the Neches River.
Deputies, volunteers and family searched for Berry throughout Saturday afternoon and into Sunday morning without finding him. On Sunday, six game wardens arrived to search the area with boats.
At 8:30 a.m., officials launched the boats near Anderson Crossing and navigated up river to where Berry was last seen. His body was recovered at 12:45 p.m.
Authorities have ruled the death accidental.
