An anonymous tip led Department of Public Safety Troopers to Frankston where they arrested a fugitive who escaped custody Friday, May 16 in Dogwood City.

 Victor Jose Ortega  had escaped custody after he was arrested out of traffic stop on Highway155 South.

Ortega was spotted in a vehicle traveling eastbound on Murchison Street in Frankston. A Frankston police officer stopped the vehicle, the driver of which refused to pull over, and a short pursuit entailed. Troopers were able to arreste the suspect in the Subway parking lot on.

At this time, Ortega is being taken to the Anderson County Jail. He faces charges of Failure to Identify, three charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Escape.

DPS was assisted by Smith County Sheriff’s Office and Frankston Police.
