An East Texas man allegedly shot himself on Wednesday night while buying a handgun.

Edgar Torres, 31, of Palestine arrived at the Palestine Regional Medical Center at 9:00pm with a gunshot wound on his right side.

While talking to Torres, police learned that he had been in the 400 block of Cherokee St. in Green's Park looking at a gun that he was planning to buy.

Torres said that the gun accidentally discharged and hit him in the side.

He did not give the name of anyone else who was there at the time of the incident.

Police went to Green's Park to investigate, but found no evidence of a shooting in the area.

Torres is in stable condition at the hospital, and is expected to recover.

The case is still under investigation at this time.

I don't believe this guy was buying a gun for one minute, he took a knife to a gun fight. Give it a break hillary gal and get back in your hiding place.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
#1. the 2nd amendment does not state what kind of Arms you are allowed to keep.
#2. A well regulated Militia means there will be regulation imposed on the melitia (people) by the governing authority of the Malitia which means the government. The congress & President has the power afforded it by the Constitution to regulate the ARMS.

Was this one of those concealed carry educators that y'all want in our schools ?

snydergal,

I've bought guns before from people without any dealer. It does not matter as one who violates the four rules, anywhere, is gonna get into trouble.

And just how would 'mega-round' clips (later I'll have to explain to you the difference between a 'clip' and a magazine) stop an accidental discharge?

Or for that matter 'assault weapons' ban (and later I'll have to explain to you the difference between a 'assault weapon' and a simi-auto weapon.)

Well if the story is true it just shows you that the FOUR RULES OF GUN SAFETY are no joke! Always treat the gun as if it is loaded. He didn't.
