School officials in Nacogdoches are pushing for a new dress code in their middle school next year.

And, they want your input before they move forward.

A final meeting will take place next Tuesday, January 15th,  at McMichael Middle School.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Assistant Superintendent Ronny Knox tells KETK, students in the elementary school already have the standardized dress code.

And, he says, it's changed their attitudes tremendously.

Knox says, "We're not having students come in comparing their blue jeans to another. We've seen decreases in bullying and we've also seen a decrease as far as discipline. Something about our kids looking nice, has seemed to change their behaviors."

School officials say, after next week's meeting,  they will present the information to the school board.

That will happen on Thursday.

2. what grade will your middle school child be in during the 2013-2014 school year? 6, 7 or 8
3.  do you currently have an elementary student wearing standardized dress?  yes or no
4. would you be interested in meeting to hear discussion about standardized dress? yes or no
5.  would you support standardized dress at the middle schools? yes or no

School officials say, data from the meetings and survey will be compiled and will be presented to the School Board.

August 2012 launched standardized dress for pre-kindergarteners through fifth graders.

highlights of the elementary schools' dress code include:

Shirts must be a short or long sleeved polo style knit with collar, any solid color polo style allowed, no logo on shirt and shirts do not have to be tucked in.
