ETX weather-related road closures, warnings

Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — The north and southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 59 connector bridges at Loop 287 South in Lufkin are once again open to traffic. The bridges were cloased at 4:30 a.m. due to icy conditions. Crews have spent the last three hours removing ice from the bridges so they could return to normal traffic flow.
Although there is still come ice on the roadways around the district, all roads are open to traffic.
Crews have ceased treating most areas with rock.
Motorists are reminded to use caution as the ice melts.
US HWY 96, SH 21, and SH 147 in San Augustine County are now becoming iced over. Crews are continuing to monitor and treat roadways.
In Polk County the U.S. 59 bridges are covered in ice at the Neches River, relief bridges at Moscow, Bear Creek in Corrigan, and the railroad overpass in Livingston. U.S. Highway 190 west has ice on the bridges at Humpy and Kickapoo creeks. U.S. Highway 190 East has ice at Wood Creek and also from Richardson Road to the Tyler County line. FM 3278 at Trinity Bridge and FM 2500 also have ice on them.
Caution is advised on SH 21 Pendleton Bridge and FM 3315 to Newton County Line in Sabine County.
In Shelby County some bridges on US 96 south of Center are frozen and on SH 7 West at the Attoyac River, as well.
Houston, Nacogdoches,San Jacinto and Trinity County citizens are advised to drive with caution.
KETK will update any other road closures that occur in the area and when they are available for transportation again.
