An East Texas woman is behind bars after officials say she admitted to shooting and killing her husband 

Rebecca Barker, 52, has been charged with murder after authorities say she shot her husband, Jerry Barker, 76, at their home just west of Rusk.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m., Wednesday. When authorities arrived on scene, Jerry Barker was dead from a single gunshot wound.

Rebecca Barker was arraigned Thursday afternoon and now sits in the Cherokee County Jail on $500,000 bond.

He's 76 she's 52. you do the math. these spring/winter marriages seldom work out. she's gonna wish she made another choice to get his insurance money. it's tough to start over at her age in a prison system of 20 somethings. then again - who knows.
