An East Texas woman has been hospitalized after her car went off the road and through a bridge support, Tuesday morning.

Around 10:00 a.m., a woman was driving eastbound on County Road 1113 toward Highway 155 when she lost control of her car.

The driver, identified as Minnie Hamilton, 29, of Tyler, ran off the road coming around a curve and overcorrected. She crossed the other side of the road when she drove into a Lake Placid Road creek, just east of Greenbriar Road.

When she went into the creek, Hamilton's car collided with the bride support and Smith County Road and Bridge are currently on scene trying to determine the structural integrity of the bridge.

According to Trooper Jeanne Dark of Smith County DPS, Hamilton was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Dark also tells KETK speed and wet roads likely contributed to the crash.
